Art Basel Weekend 2013 @TheStageMiami

The Stage Miami Paints Art Basel Week with a Hip-Hop Flourish

Venue to exhibit hip-hop artists over the course of three nights in the Design District

Miami, FL –  Art Basel week is the time of the year when the vanguard of the art world converges on Miami Beach. This year, The Stage Miami will be presenting a gallery of the best of old school hip-hop and new urban sounds during the height of Art Basel, featuring De La Soul on Thursday, December 5, the Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah on December 6 during Beats & Rhymes Fridays and Black Violin on Saturday, December 7, among others.

“The Stage has pulled out all the stops this year for Art Basel and the lineup that we've managed to put together is simply stellar,” says Harold Mazzotti, AKA DJ Heron and CEO of www.AddictiveAffairs.com , one of the events’ organizers and presenting sponsors. “The reaction Maseo got during his battle with Ali Shaheed Muhammad was incredible, we feel Ghostface is an all-time great and the turnout for Black Violin’s last performance at The Stage in August was off the hook.”

Now in their fourth decade of performing together, the trio from Long Island known as De La Soul will be making the their debut as a group at The Stage on Thursday night, December 5.  Although the group is probably best known for their 1989 debut 3 Feet High and Rising, they have continued to write, record and perform together since, charting multiple singles and albums throughout the 90's and 00's. They are currently at work on an eighth studio recording. Opening for them will be DJs YNOT and Heron. Tickets for this evening's event are $30 and available here: www.wantickets.com/delasoul

Beats & Rhymes Fridays features the weekly spin work of DJs Heron and Self Born plus special guest DJs and performing artists, all revolving around hip hop and the best boom bap. The December 6 edition will feature the two resident DJs along with DJs Exes and Klassik. Staten Island, NY’s Ghostface Killah, who released the critically-acclaimed horror / hop concept album Twelve Reasons to Die in 2013 (a collaboration with film producerAdrian Younge), will headline the evening’s affairs. The album climbed as high as 6 on the Top Rap and Independent Album charts, 7 on the Billboard R&B chart and 27 on the Billboard 200. Presale tickets are $33 and available online here: www.wantickets.com/ghostface.

Black Violin wowed show-goers at The Stage this past summer with a performance that artfully combined classical influences with hip hop beats. Founders Kev Marcus (violin) and Wil B (viola) are four-time winners of “Showtime at the Apollo” who met while students at Fort Lauderdale’s Dillard High School of Performing Arts. The group, which now includes a drummer, cellist and a DJ, has also worked with Kanye West50 Cent,AerosmithTom PettyAretha Franklin and The Eagles, among others. Also performing Saturday night are DJs Methods, Heron and Klassik. Advance tickets for this event are $15 and now available here: www.wantickets.com/blackviolins.

Three-day passes to all events are priced at $70 and are available online at

www.wantickets.com/artbaselthestage. Enjoy $100 bottle specials and food by the This Is It food truck, the newly-permanent culinary option at the venue. For more information, visit www.TheStageMiami.com or call 305.576.9577 Events are open to those 21 and over; doors open at 10 p.m. each night.
